An in progress working project to digitize by scanning commissioned and original pressed floral art
updated Friday September 5, 2025
The following are select images of the scanned pressed floral art created from wedding flowers for Rachel O. Limited by the image upload size, I was only able to upload the largest file (210MB) which is the first image shared. The other images are zoomed screenshots of the original file.
Some Thoughts
The Plan | This has been in my "fun things to do when I have time" bucket for a while. This is the research phase to potentially create original pieces that can be scanned then limited prints can be made available for purchase - 2026 plan*.When I had the opportunity to scan a few items I decided to include Rachel's piece. The primary reason is to trial out the scanning process and quality as well as to see what flowers (type, texture, colour) can scan well. Because Rachel's piece had a range of light and dark colours, different textures and layering of flowers it worked as the perfect piece to trial the scanning option.
Lucky enough I found a local professional art scanning service (ABC Fine Art) close by and fortunate enough they were able to do a same day scan. Their usual process is to drop off and pick up would be within the next week when the scan is ready but the team at the shop saw how fragile and organic the pressed flowers were and decided they rather have it done right away then trying to store the pieces.
