Through creating pieces this last three almost four years, this space evolved to become my ode to nature's flowers and botanics. Preserving and pressing florals showed me the intimate power of sentiments. Each handcrafted piece feels like love notes for the individuals, couples and families who come to me to help them celebrate their love, commitment and memory through creating floral keepsakes.

 

With that, the studio's new name, Dear Flora, embodies the personalized and artful qualities that mark each floral piece transforming floral preservation into heartfelt narratives. It shines light to the nostalgic charm in appreciating the slowness and meditative process each piece takes to craft. Telling stories through floral preservation is what I've discovered loving to do here and hope to continue to express this in the art I create.

 

For now, you've probably noticed some changes in what and how I'm posting here and I will also be slowly making some changes on my website. I have a few more updates planned and some fun things to share with this name refresh...but more on this in time.

 

Hi! I'm Barbara. I am the face behind Dear Flora - a East Van based floral preservation studio. Started in 2020, I've been helping couples and loved ones preserve fresh wedding (and other life events) blooms into forever art.

I choose the best of the flowers and put them in a traditional wooden press for weeks where they get pressed super thin. I then design, secure and frame them into keepsakes. I love to add elements like photos, vows, invites, laces, pieces from gowns and create art that is unique.

 

Creating personalized pieces and telling your story through preserved florals is what I'm here for. It's been a few years since I started but I've been slowly growing the studio so I'm still exploring what I offer. So keep following to see the art I create and how I continue to build this studio.
